ACTIVITIES AND ACHIEVEMENTS (2016-2017)
Workshop on Sarangi:
Workshop is the most important method of teaching.As Music is a practical subject, The Department of Music organised three days workshop from 8th to 10th august on the instrument SARANGI . SARANGI is one of the most popular and oldest bowed instrument in india .Sarangi is the only instrument which comes in closest proximity to the human voice. It has all the characters of a good instrument. .
Workshop on Indian Instrument:
Five days workshop was organised from 16th to 20th august 2016.The famous sitarist Mr.Sarasvatsa trained the students with the various Indian instruments of music i .e Sitar, Santoor, Jaltarang Harmonium, Pati tarang etc.
2. Workshop on Folk Instruments:
Department of Music organised a workshop for five days from 26 to 30 august 2016.The great folk artist IKBAL MOHAMAD LACHKANI was invited to trained the students.He taught many folk instruments like Sarangi,Dhad, Algoza,Venjli,dhaff, Been,Chimta etc.
3..WORKSHOP ON FLUTE
The Department of Music .organised four days workshop from 5th to 8th september 2016 on the instrument FLUTE .In the category of wind instruments,flute is the most useful instrument. Keeping this in view, the department conducted the workshop on Flute.

QUIZ
The Department of Music .organised " QUIZ COMPETITION "on 5th October 2016. The students participated in the quiz with deep interest.
DISCUSSION ON TOPIC 'TRIBUTE TO ABDUL HALIM ZAFER KHAN''
A Discussion was held by the music departmennt on the great musician ABDUL HALIM ZAFER KHAN'' on 12th January 2017.

EDUCATIONAL TRIP
Department of music conducted educational trip on 9th march 2017 to science city jalandhar along with 40 students.In Science City students enjoyed a lot and gained a lot of information about science and its new inventions.

- A Seminar was conducted by department. on topic ‘ INFLUENCE OF WESTERN MUSIC '' ON 7th FEB 2017.The speaker of the topic was Parveen Kaur ,of B.A II .The Lecturer MRS. POOJA KUNDRA cleared the doubts about the topic.
SEMINAR ON TOPIC''CONTRIBUTION OF TANSEN''
Tansen was a prominent figure, a great Instrumentalist and musician. With the view ,to let the students know about the contribution of such a great personality music department organised a seminar on Topic ''CONTRIBUTION OF TANSEN on 23rd march 2017. Sonali ,the student of class B.A II spoke on topic.

Seminar On Electronic Instrument in Indian Music
Music Department conducted a seminar on" Electronic Instrument in Indian Music" On 8th march
2017. Shilpa, the student of B.A I was the speaker of the seminar.
COMMUNITY SERVICE IN LEPERS' HOME [JALANDHAR]
The community service program to leprosy home [ 9th march 2017] was organised by the Department of music in order to in calculate the feeling of service towards community. for this, the students with the teacher of the department visited leprosy home and distributed different things.The students also interacted with them and come to know about the problems they face and learn the power of strong will to face the challenges of life.

To make the students aware of the community and its upcoming problems, The department of music took an initiative of taking the students to the slum area near ferozepur city On 15th march 2017.The students distributed clothes and eatables to the needy children and women folk. The student also made the slum children understand the value the cleanliness and hygiene.

- Indian orchestra got first position in zonal Youth Festival held at DSCW FZR.
- Non Percussion[Tabla] also got first position in Zonal youth Festival.
- Gagandeep Kaur student of B.com declared first best instrumentlist in Indian orchestra.
- Folk orchestra got second position in zonal youth festival.
