Activities and Achievements (2015-2016)
SEMINAR
Now a days everything is getting advanced every second of life.The students have to always keep their eyes on what new things are arriving day by day.Seminars provide latest information to students because they cannot improve their knowledge from only textbooks. They must take part in various seminars. So our music deptt. conducts various seminar for students.
- One day Seminar was organised on topic ‘IMPORTANCE OF MUSIC ’ on 27th July 2015.The speaker was Simran Kaur of class BA II.
- A Seminar was conducted by department. on topic ‘Vadak ke gun or dosh’ on 10th September 2015.The speaker was karamjeet kaur of class BA II. She told students that a vadak is a person who plays a musical instrument or is musically talented. Anyone who composes, conducts, or performs music is referred to as a vadak. A vadak who plays a musical instrument is also known as an instrumentalist.She expailned that Vadak can specialize in any musical style, and some musicians play in a variety of different styles depending on cultures and background. Examples of a musician's possible skills.
- The department of Music organised a Seminar on a very important Topic" THE DEVELOPMENT OF INDIAN MUSICAL SCALE" on 23rd sept.2015. The speaker was Nitika .student of class BA III.

- One day Seminar was organised to make students aware about vadan shellies ka vikas on 29th sept.2015. In Instrumental Music,Vadan Shailies have its own special significance, Various instrumental artists have created different vadan shailies in indian instrument music.Through this seminar the students were expose to the different vadan shailies.
- On 15th october 2015, one day seminar was conducted by Music department.. The topic of seminar was "GRAM".karamjeet kaur student of class BA II.spoke on the topic.She told the defination ,meaning importance of the gram to the students. She also cleared the doubts of the students about the topic.
- A seminar on 26th feb. 2016 was organised by department. of music. The topic of the seminar was "FUTURE OF INDIAN INSTRUMENT MUSIC "in which Ranjeet kaur student of class BA II cleared the doubts of the students about the topic.she told the students that the future of Indian instruments are very bright. In every field of music, Indian instruments are used.
- The Department organised a seminar on the topic "TEN THAAT OF PT. BATHKHANDE" on 22nd JAN 2016. PARMINDER KAUR from BA I presented her views on the topic.She explained ten thaat in detailed.she told the students that in our Indian classical music,all the raag are classified under these ten thaat
WORKSHOP
Workshop is the most important method of teaching.As Music is a pratical subject, The Department of Music organised different workshops on different topics.
- One of the most popular and oldest bowed instrument in India is Sarangi .Sarangi is the only instrument which comes in closest proximity to the human voice. It has all the characters of a good instrument. One day workshop on" SARANGI" was organised on 8th August 2015.

- Department of Music organised five days workshop from 10th August to 14th August 2015 on the "FOLK INSTRUMENT OF PUNJAB".The great folk artist Mr. Narinder Kumar Shanti was the trainer.He trained the students to play different folk instruments like duff, dholl, tumbi, algooza, dholak and many more.
- The department of music organised six days workshop from 17th august to 22nd august 2015 on "INDIAN INSTRUMENT".Dr. Varinder Kumar, a very famous,well known and prominent sitarist was the resource person for this workshop. Our other teachers of the department also contributed in making this workshop successful.

QUIZ
A Music based Quiz for the class B.A.III was organised in the Music Department on 30th october 2015.It was operated by Dr. Sangeeta and Mrs. Pooja Kundra .while the time management work was executed efficiently by the students. The question asked in the competition were related to music .The team that got more marks in each stage was declared the winner at the first , second and third place.
- On 8th April 2016, at the end of session ,The department organised a Music based quiz competition for the class BA I , BA II.and for the class B.A.III The question asked in the competition were related to music .The team that got more marks in each stage was declared the winner at the first , second and third place.
Discussion
- Department of music conducted Discussion on ‘Raag ka Samay Sidhhant’ on 18th February 2016.
- Discussion was organised by the Department on topic,' USTAD INNYAT KHAN and USTAD VILLAYAT KHAN' on 22nd March 2016
Community Service
Services to the Community is always at the top list of DSCW . So Our Music Department Visited Orphanage home, blind home and Mother Teresa Orphanage Home and Gaushalla on 04th
march 2016.

- Educational Tour to Gurudwara Jamani Sahib Bajidpur
- On 3rd ,March ,2016, the students of Music Department paid a visit to the Gurudwara Jamini Sahib, Bjeedpur along with their teacher Mrs. Sangeeta Sharma , Mrs. Pooja Kundra and Mr.Sarasvatsa.
INDUSTRIAL VISIT
- Students have dream to visit University ,Radio Station and Doordarshan .Their dream is our priority. So to fullfill their dream, our department took them to Lovely University, Jalandhar, Doordarshan and All India Radio Station Jalandhar,
PPT is the most important part of education system. It enhances learning by providing a better understanding of topic as well as motivating students.So Our Music Deptt. prepared ppt on difficult topics.
- Power Point Presentation on the topic ‘Time Theory of Ragas’ was given by Mr. Sarasvatas, on 01st march 2016.
Stage Performances
Music is a pratical subject. Stage performances is a fundamental and important part of our musicians' journey.So Our Music Deptt. organised various Stage Performances in class room for our students to build confidence in the students.
- Manch Pradarshan (Stage Peformance) of Raag Madhuwanti on 19th November 2015 by the student of class B.A.III SUKHBEER KAUR .
- To reduce the stage fear and makes a student move towards becoming a performer the department of music was organised a stage performance on the famous raag MALKAUNS on 5th February 2016."The students who performed the raag wasPardeep Kaur (B.A.III) .First of all she played maseetkhani gat with toras. After that she played raza khani gat with toras and jhalas.
SUFIANA SHAM
A Musical Evening "SANSKRITI :SUFIANA KALAM KE NAAM" was organised in the premises of DSCW.Magher Ali the great artist gave an enthralling performance.It seemed that the whole ambience that evening was converted something to very pure and spiritual.

Celebration of the Birthday of Bhagwan Dev Atma, The Founder of Dev Samaj
In every year ,we celabtated the Birthday of Bhagwan Dev Atma, with whole heartily .Because Bhagwan Dev Atma contributed a lot to Dev Samaj .

Students performed Folk Orchestra at Mahotsav on 26th December 2015. Team of Folk orchestra played various tunes of Dev Samaj Bhajans on various folk instruments.
Celebration of Maat Pita Santaan Diwas
Dev Dharam lays stress on living with peace and understanding in relations. The calender of Dev Samaj is divided into 16 parts, each part being dedicated to a relation. The year begins with the relation between Parents and Children called Mat Pita Santan Yagya.
