Activities and Achievements (2017-2018)
WORKSHOPS
- Department of Music organised a workshop on Sitar : Its structure and repair by Naeem Khan , a renowned Sitar Karigar on 16.08.2017.
- Five days workshop on Folk Instruments of Punjab was organised by the department from 31/7/2017 to 5/8/2017. Narinder kumar(Shanty) was the resource person. The students were given the practical sessions on different instruments of Punjab and also 12 students were selected from the session to participate in Youth Festival.
- · Three days workshop on TAAL VADYA (TABLA) was organised by the department from 17-19 August 2017 by Tabla Artist Sehaj Deep Singh.
.· Two days workshop
on “Harmonium” was held from 2nd to 3rd February 2018 by Mrs.Pooja Kundra(lecturer).
- Four days workshop on STRING INSTRUMENT was held from 8th August to 11 August 2017 by Dr.Gouri and Mrs.Pooja Kundra.
Lecture -cum -Demonstration
Dr. Tejinder Gulati delivered a Lecture - cum - Demonstration on the Topic "Different Moods of Ragas" in the college campus on 20 .03.2018
SEMINARS
Seminar on Role of
Akashwani and Doordarshan in popularization of Instrumental Music was organised on 14.9.17. The students focused on the point : how different media sources help in popularizing the music and how the good and pure music reaches to the people.
- Seminar on “Classification of Indian Instrument” was held on 11 September 2017. Parveen and Rajandeep were the speakers for this topic.
- Seminar on Topic “An Analytical study on raag Miyan Ki Malhar”was held on 28th March 2018.
Seminar on the topic” Health and Music” was organised on 18th
January 2018. Ripika , student of BA III was the speaker .
- Seminar on “Taan and its variety” held on 26 October,2017.The speaker was Sonia (B.A.111)
Quiz Contest was organized in college for the students of sixth semester on 24.02.2018
Enrichment Programme
Department of Music organised an enrichment program in collaboration with Department of Computer Science on 09.11.2017 to make the students aware about the knitty gritty of computer and to enhance their knowledge to use computers in the arena of music.
- Department of Music organised two days enrichment program in collaboration with Department of Cosmetology on Yoga. the session was taken by Ms. Gurmeet Kaur on 6th and 7th March 2017. the program was based on educating the students about yoga and how it helps to lead tension free life and also about the different asanas to live healthy life.
STAGE PERFORMANCES
- Stage performances are helpful in developing the creativity of the students. stage performance is helpful in reducing the stage fear and makes a student move towards becoming a performer . Keeping in view, the department organised a stage performance on the famous raag "TODI".The students who performed were Rajni bala (B.A.III)Harwinder kaur B.A.(III).

Community Service
COMMUNITY SERVICE IN D.A.V. ORPHANAGE HOME
- A visit to the D.A.V. Orphanage home was arranged by the Department of music . The motivation of the visit was to create an awareness among the students about the hardship and problems of the orphanage children .Such visits help the students to become sensitive and helpful towards such people.The students of music distributed clothes and eatables.
Community service in village sodewala ferozepur on 13 April 2018. Under community service department of music distributed stationery items like pencils ,notebook,eraser, sharpners and pencilboxes to the students of the school to motivate them to study.Along with them, eatables were also distributed among them.

- To make the students aware of the community and its upcoming problems, the department of music took an initiative of taking the students to the slum area near ferozepur city.The students distributed clothes and eatables to the needy children and women folk.the student also made the slum children understand the value the cleanliness and hygiene.
